Fred E. Murphy IV, CFA

Fred Murphy is a managing director and portfolio manager. He is the chairman of the firm’s investment committee. Prior to forming Murphy, Middleton, Hinkle and Parker, Inc., Fred was a founding principal of Murphy Investment Management Company, which was formed in 1992. Earlier in his career, Fred worked as a portfolio manager and research analyst for Capital Management Associates in New York City after managing a $425 million portfolio for the state of Florida Pension Fund in Tallahassee, Florida. He has been in the investment business since 1986.

Since January 2007, he has been on the Board of Directors with the Thomas County Federal Savings and Loan Association.

He earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 1989. Mr. Murphy received a B.A. in Finance from Auburn University.

David J. Middleton

David Middleton is a managing director, a portfolio manager and a member of the firm’s investment committee. He was a managing director with Murphy Investment Management Company for 15 years prior to forming Murphy, Middleton, Hinkle and Parker, Inc. Previous to that he worked for Merrill Lynch & Company as a financial consultant, covering the north Florida and South Georgia markets. He has been in the investment business since 1988.

David is an active volunteer for several non-profit organizations in the Thomasville/Tallahassee area. He received a B.A. in Economics from Vanderbilt University.

Cliff Hinkle

Cliff Hinkle is a portfolio manager and a member of the firm’s investment committee. He joined Murphy Investment Management Company in 2000. Prior to Murphy Investment Management Company, Cliff was the Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer of the State Board of Administration in Tallahassee, where he ran the state of Florida's $60 billion retirement fund. He has extensive experience in the areas of municipal finance as well as private equity investments. Cliff is the current chairman of Flagler Holdings, a private merchant bank holding company, and is the past chairman of the FSU Foundation. He serves on the board of directors for several public and privately held companies. He has been in the investment business since 1977.

Mr. Hinkle received his B.S. in Business Administration from Florida State University, as well as his M.P.A. and D.P.A. degrees from Nova University.

Cliff Hinkle

J. Mark Parker

Mark Parker is a managing director, portfolio manager and a member of the firm’s investment committee. Prior to Murphy, Middleton, Hinkle and Parker, Inc., Mark was the principal of Parkway Wealth Management LLC (PWM), an investment advisor registered with the SEC. Before PWM, he was the Chief Investment Officer at TNB Financial Services, the trust division of Thomasville National Bank. For 15 years prior to TNB, Mr. Parker was Chief Investment Officer and CEO at Joseph Parker and Company, Inc., an investment advisory firm with managed assets of $240 million. The company merged with TNB in 2002. He has been in the investment business since 1987.

Mr. Parker is an active community volunteer in his hometown of Thomasville. He is a board member and current past Treasurer of the Thomasville YMCA, and a board member and past President of Thomasville Landmarks. He graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a B.B.A. in finance.

Mark Parker

C. Wayne Edwards, CFP

Wayne Edwards is a managing director, portfolio manager, a member of the investment committee, and chairman of the firm’s financial planning division. Prior to joining Murphy, Middleton, Hinkle and Parker, Inc., Wayne was the president and founder of Professional Financial Planning, a registered investment advisory firm. PFP provided comprehensive personal financial planning in the areas of cash management, tax planning, risk management, estate planning, investments, education planning, retirement planning and business planning. Wayne founded PFP in 1985

He has earned the certified financial planner (CFP) designation and holds various other securities and insurance licenses. He is a prior member of the National Board of Directors of the Financial Planning Association, past president of the Tallahassee Rotary Club and past Rotary District Governor, chairman of the investment committee of the Community Foundation of North Florida, and a past board member of the Tallahassee Memorial Health Care Foundation. He was also a former columnist for the Tallahassee Democrat. Wayne received a BS and an MBA in Finance from Florida State University.

C. Wayne Edwards, CFP

Andrea Eaton

Andrea Eaton is the firm’s Operations and Administrative Manager. Before her tenure with Murphy, Middleton, Hinkle and Parker, Inc., she worked with Murphy Investment Management Company in the same capacity since 2002. Andrea is in charge of back office accounting, trading operations and communications.

Ms. Eaton received her B.A. in accounting from Thomas University.

Debbie Roberts

Debbie Roberts is the firm’s Administrative Assistant. She joined Murphy Investment Management Company in 2006 in this capacity.

She received her B.B.A. in business administration from Georgia Southwestern State University.
